KHULNA, Dec 31: The nomination papers of three independent candidates have been cancelled in Khulna-3 constituency, comprising Khalishpur, Daulatpur, Khan Jahan Ali and Aranghata areas.
A total of 12 candidates submitted nomination papers in the constituency. After scrutiny, nine nominations were found valid while three were cancelled, Regional Election Officer Faisal Kader disclosed the information at noon on Wednesday.
The nominations of the three independents were cancelled due to loan default and other irregularities. The candidates are independent candidates Abdur Rouf Molla, Abul Hasnat Siddique, and Arifur Rahman Mithu.
However, they will have the opportunity to appeal against the decision.
Meanwhile, the nominations of nine candidates have been declared valid.
