The inauguration of the 30th Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) 2026 has been rescheduled following the government's declaration of three days of state mourning for the death of former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
Originally slated to begin on January 1, the opening ceremony of the country's largest trade exposition will now be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026. The trade fair will be held at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center (BCFEC) in Purbach.
The Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) announced the decision in a press release issued today, Wednesday. The EPB stated that the postponement is a mark of respect toward the late three-time Prime Minister, whose passing has led to a nationwide period of mourning.
The Dhaka International Trade Fair is a flagship annual event designed to showcase Bangladesh's export potential and industrial growth. This year's 30th edition is expected to see significant participation from both local and international companies, attracting a large number of visitors to the Purbachal venue.
The Vice Chairman and Chief Executive of the EPB, Mohammad Hasan Arif, confirmed that all other preparations for the month-long event are being finalised to welcome guests on the new opening date.
