Bangladesh Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the postponement of oral examinations of 46th BCS scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday due to three-day state mourning declared after the death of BNP Chairperson and three-time former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
PSC made the announcement in a press release on Tuesday afternoon (December 30), stating that the rescheduled dates for the oral exams will be communicated later.
The 46th BCS oral examinations began on December 28.
According to the original schedule, 195 candidates who passed the written test for General Cadre were to appear for the oral exam on Wednesday and another 195 candidates on Thursday.
Earlier, the written exam results for this BCS were published on November 27, declaring 4,042 candidates successful.
PSC had issued the notification for 46th BCS on November 30, 2023, with the preliminary exam held on April 26, 2024.
Around 254,561 candidates participated in the preliminary test, of which 10,638 were declared successful.
The written examinations were initially scheduled between August 28 and September 9 last year, but were postponed on August 25 due to political instability following a change of government.
To address inequalities, PSC later declared additional candidates successful alongside the original list of 10,638, bringing the total successful candidates to 21,397, with results published on November 27, 2024.
PSC had subsequently announced the written exam schedule between March 24 and August 21, 2025, for compulsory and subject-specific papers.
However, exams were temporarily suspended in May due to candidate protests.
