The Nationalist Citizen Party (NCP) has rubbished reports claiming that its Chief Coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari resigned or was dismissed, calling them "incorrect and baseless."
The party issued a clarification on October 24 through NCP Joint Member Secretary (Office) Saleh Uddin Sifat, stating, "Nasiruddin Patwari is with us. He recently served as the party's registration officer at the Election Commission and continues to lead various wings. Any claim of his resignation or dismissal is false."
Adding weight to the rebuttal, NCP Senior Joint Chief Coordinator Abdul Hannan Masud posted on Facebook late Wednesday, saying, "I confirm that the news about Patwari's resignation is nothing but a rumour. I strongly condemn such untrue and baseless reports."
The rumours first surfaced around Thursday midnight when several media outlets and social media posts cited unnamed NCP sources claiming that Patwari had submitted his resignation to the party's convener and member secretary two weeks ago. The reports added that the high command had not yet taken any formal decision on the matter.
With party leaders quickly pushing back, the NCP has sought to end speculation and reassure followers that Patwari remains firmly in his position.
