Although several leaders have submitted nomination papers as alternative candidates for the three parliamentary seats originally allocated to the late BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, the party or alliance has yet to finalize candidates for those constituencies.
According to party sources, preliminary consideration is being given to Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu for Feni-1 (Fulgazi-Parshuram and Chhagalnaiya), Morshed Alam Milton for Bogura-7 (Gabtali), and Syed Jahangir Alam for Dinajpur-3 (Sadar).
In Bogura-7, Gabtali Upazila BNP President and former Upazila Parishad Chairman Morshed Alam Milton submitted his nomination papers as an alternative candidate. He filed the papers on Monday with the Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Assistant Returning Officer in the presence of BNP Chairperson's Adviser and former Member of Parliament Helaluzzaman Talukder.
After submitting his nomination, Milton said that an additional nomination paper had been collected in his favor following a decision by the party high command, as the seat was originally allocated to the BNP Chairperson.
For Dinajpur-3 (Sadar), Syed Jahangir Alam, BNP Rangpur Divisional Committee's Assistant Organizing Secretary and a three-time former mayor of Dinajpur Municipality, submitted his nomination as an alternative candidate.
In Feni-1 Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu, Convener of Dhaka Metropolitan South BNP and Khaleda Zia's election coordinator, submitted nomination papers as an alternative candidate.
