BNP campaign launch turns deadly in Mymensingh

A worker has been stabbed to death during the inauguration of independent candidate Salman Omar Rubel's election office in Mymensingh-1.

The incident took place on Friday evening at Ershad Bazar, Dhobaura, according to Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police, Mymensingh.

The victim, Nazrul Islam, 46, was a campaign worker for Rubel.

BNP Joint Secretary Syed Emran Saleh Prince is running from the Mymensingh-1 seat, comprising Haluaghat and Dhobaura Upazilas, while Rubel, a Haluaghat BNP member, is contesting as an independent.

According to police and witnesses, Nazrul was stabbed by a rival and was later declared dead at the Dhobaura Upazila Health Complex. The incident has triggered tension and fear in the area. "bdnews24
