Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the prime accused in the murder of Bogura’s Lotto showroom manager Pintu Akand, from Tongi East Police Station in Gazipur district on Sunday night.
The arrested was identified as Moktar Hossain, 35, a resident of Kankai village in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogura district.
Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of officials, including RAB-12 and RAB-1, conducted a drive in the Station Road area of Gazipur and arrested Moktar.
Bogura RAB-12 company commander Lt BN Wahiduzzaman confirmed the detention through a press conference on Monday afternoon.
The deceased, Pintu Akand, had been working as the manager of Toufiq Elahi Sujan's Lotto showroom in Khandaker Market, adjacent to the CO Office intersection under Dupchanchia police station in Bogura district, for about three years.
Earlier on December 22, nearly 6 to 7 unidentified miscreants entered the showroom of Pintu, forcibly dragged him and abducted him in a white microbus.
Later, his body was recovered in the Komarbhog area of Chhatiangram union in Adamdighi upazila.
After the incident, the victim's wife filed a kidnapping and murder case with Dupchanchia Police Station.
