One killed, 4 injured in Ctg bus-truck collision

A man was killed and four others were injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a truck at Patiya upazila in Chattogram district early Monday.

The deceased was identified as Md Salam, 55, son of Aktar Mia, further identity is yet to be known.

The injured, who include Jahedul Islam, 26, Zakir Islam, 30, Sakib ul Hasan, 17 and Nasrin Sultana, 29, are residents from Brahmanbaria district.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 2:15 AM in Amjurhat area on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway when a passenger bus collided head-on with a goods-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, causing five individuals, including the truck driver, to be injured.

Later, fire service officials rescued them and took them to Patiya Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctors declared Salam dead. The injured individuals were transferred to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for further treatment.

Confirming the incident, Potiya Fire Service Station Officer Rajesh Barua said that highway police took the vehicles into their custody.
