Engine detaches from train in Jamalpur

The engine of the Tista Express detached from its coaches on Thursday afternoon at Piyarpur Railway Station under Jamalpur district, causing panic among passengers.

According to railway sources, the Dhaka-bound intercity train left Jamalpur Station at 4 PM and reached Piyarpur Station at 4:32 PM. When the train set out for Dhaka after passengers had boarded, its engine detached from all 14 coaches. Hearing the screams of passengers, Locomotive Master Md Kamruzzaman halted the train immediately.

Piyarpur Railway Station Master Md Abdul Momin said the train left the station at 6:15 PM after the connection was fixed.

Railway Police Officer-in-Charge Md Rabiul Islam said no one was hurt in the incident.
