A Bangladeshi youth was shot dead by India’s Border Security Force (BSF) along the Kulaura border area in Moulvibazar district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Shukuram Urang, 25, son of Dasnu Urang from Murichhra Tea Garden area in the upazila. Shukuram worked at a company in Dhaka and had returned home on leave about 15–20 days earlier to help his family with farming.
According to locals, Shukuram went to work on their farmland near border pillar 1844 around noon. While he was grazing his livestock, BSF members suddenly opened indiscriminate fire at him around 1:30 PM. Hit by bullets, he attempted to run but collapsed a short distance away.
Later, locals rescued him and rushed him to Kulaura Upazila Health Complex, but he succumbed to his injuries on the way to hoipital .
Kulaura Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Omar Faruk confirmed the death and said that the body has been sent to Moulvibazar General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
