Rangamati school hosts ‘Applied Nutrition for Good Health’ campaign

A campaign on applied nutrition for health awareness has been conducted with students at Wagga High School at Kaptai upazila in Rangamati district on Thursday.

The event was organised by the Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) under its project to strengthen nutrition and food security through agricultural development.

The program was presided over by the school’s headmaster, Subimal Tonchongga, and Upazila Agriculture Officer Ahsan Habib was present as the chief guest.

The chief guest highlighted the importance of nutritious food for students, calling them the future of the country. He urged students not only to adopt healthy eating habits themselves but also to spread awareness about nutrition within their families and communities. “There is no alternative to nutritious food in building a healthy nation,” he said.

Speakers at the event included BIRTAN trainer Samia Mahbuba, Assistant Scientific Officer Md Kausar Ahmed, Kaptai Press Club General Secretary Julon Dutta and assistant teacher Kalyan Bikash Tonchongya.

Following the speeches, over a hundred students received “nutrition plates” and saplings of fruit-bearing trees to encourage healthy eating habits and environmental awareness.
