Animal Saviours of Bangladesh (ASB), a student-led animal welfare organization, has unveiled its 101-member executive committee for the 2025–26 session through an official Facebook post on Sunday night at 9:30 p.m.
Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam from the Department of Medicine at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU) has been elected President, with Sandip Saha, an intern from the same faculty, taking the role of General Secretary. Prof. Dr. Mahbubul Pratik Siddique of the Department of Microbiology and Hygiene will serve as Treasurer, while Md. Ashikuzzaman, a veterinary student and The Daily Observer's BAU correspondent, has been appointed Media and Publication Secretary.
The committee also features eight foreign students. Other office bearers include Al-Faruk as Vice President; Md Abu Based Suzauddula Saikat as Organizing Secretary (Treatment); Md. Jayedul Islam as Organizing Secretary (Rescue); Md. Anamul Hoque as Office Secretary; Bijoy Kundu as Assistant Treasurer; Kaniz Fatema Binti as Drug Analyst & Communication Secretary; Eureka Joshi as Secretary of Foreign Affairs; Hafsa Khatun as Information and Technology Secretary; and Adnan Rahman as Event Management Secretary. The team is completed by 50 general members.
Commenting on the new leadership, Prof. Dr. Md. Mahbub Alam said, “It is inspiring to see our students balancing academics while dedicating time and compassion to the welfare of stray and ownerless animals. ASB will not only focus on treatment and rescue but also act as a practical learning platform for empathy and responsibility.”
Media and Publication Secretary Md. Ashikuzzaman added, “ASB has been providing free medical care and welfare services for stray and helpless animals within BAU and nearby areas. The organization also helps students acquire hands-on experience and practical knowledge through compassion-driven initiatives. The new committee will continue to uphold ASB’s motto, ‘Every Life is Precious,’ and work toward creating a safe and humane world for animals.”
