A Mymensingh court on Thursday sentenced a man to death for killing a young man at Muktagacha upazila in the district in 2015.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Shamsuddin delivered the verdict, sentencing Sohel Rana, a resident of Muktagacha, to capital punishment.
According to the prosecution, Zahidul Islam, son of Rafiqul Islam from Mandalsen Pashchim Para in Muktagacha, went missing along with his van on September 17, 2015.
When Zahidul failed to return home, his family tried to reach him by phone, but it was found switched off. The following day, his body was recovered from a canal — his throat had been slit.
A murder case was filed with Muktagacha Police Station, and police later arrested Sohel Rana in connection with the killing.
