The body of Humayun, a 10-year-old schoolboy who went missing during a flash flood in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur, was recovered on Thursday evening.

Humayun had gone missing around 2:00 pm while attempting to catch floating logs in the Chellakhali River near Burunga Bridge.

His uncle Jahangir Alam confirmed that the body was found around 8:30 pm, about 500 yards downstream, entangled in water hyacinth. Family members discovered the body after the water level in the river receded slightly.

Sohel Rana, Officer-in-Charge of Nalitabari Police Station, confirmed the recovery and stated that the family had applied for permission to bury the body without an autopsy. "Legal procedures in this regard are underway," he added.
