Human chain demands justice over killing AL leader in Netrakona

NETRAKONA, Feb 12: A human chain was formed in Durgapur Upazila of the district on Sunday seeking justice over the killing of a local leader of Awami League (AL).
Locals formed the human chain in Dakshin Bhawanipur area in the afternoon.
Earlier, miscreants killed Ward AL member Mujibur Rahman, 51, at Durgapur on February 4 last.
Former Union Parishad (UP) chairman Harun Or Rashid, former panel chairman and Union AL Vice-President Idris Ali, the deceaseds wife Jamila Khatun, brother Noor Nabi, son Rajan Mia, AL leader Dr Abdul Hannan, Ward AL President and UP Member Rafiqul Islam, and local businessmen Abdus Salam, Abdul Qadir, and Tofazzal Mia, among others, spoke at the human chain.Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Durgapur Police Station (PS) Uttam Kumar Deb said, Mujibars son Rajan Mia has filed a case with the PS as the plaintiff. Three people have, so far, been arrested in this case. The law enforcers are sincerely trying to arrest the other accused and additional police have been deployed in the area for maintaining law and order situation, the OC added.
