A Dhaka court has sentenced a man to four years rigorous imprisonment in a narcotics case filed in 2016.
Dhaka Special Judge Court-9 Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman passed the judgment on Sunday.
The court also fined the convict Tk 40,000, in default, to suffer one month more in jail.
The convicted was M Palash, 33, son of late Bachchu Sheikh of Noor Bagh Street near Dholaipar Bazar area of Kadmatali in Dhaka.
According to the prosecution, on September 29, 2016, police arrested Palash with 20 bottles of phensidyl from Dholairpar market in Kadamtali area of the Old Dhaka.
On the same day, SI Tauhidul Islam filed a case with Kadmatoli Police Station.
On October 30, 2016, SI Dipankar Mandal of Kadmatoli Police Station submitted charge-sheet to the court.
