BNP on Wednesday postponed its scheduled March 29 rally at Suhrawardi Udyan as the party did not get necessary permission for holding the programme demanding the release of Khaleda Zia from jail.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed said this while speaking at a press conference at the central office at Nayapaltan in the capital.
The BNP leader said they have been compelled to postpone the rally as the government did not give permission to hold the rally.
The government has shown its autocratic behaviour by denying
permission to such a big party like BNP, Rizvi said.
On Tuesday, BNP went to meet Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan to secure permission for the rally on March 29 to drum up support for the release of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, who is now in jail in a graft case.
