Teacher killed over land dispute in Comilla

COMILLA, Apr 19: A school teacher was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbours following a land dispute at Dhanishwar village under Barura upazila here on Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Ibrahim Khalil, 58, of the village and acting headmaster of Dhanishwar Government Primary School.
Sources said, a long-standing enmity was going on between Ibrahim and Ramjan Ali, Abdul Barek, Harun and Israfil of the village over a piece of land. Arbitration to settle the matter was to be held on Tuesday next, sources said.
But on Sunday noon, Ramjan Ali and some of his followers began to cut paddy in the field while Ibrahim tried to resist them. At one stage, Ramjan Ali's men beat Ibrahim mercilessly, leaving him seriously injured.
Later, he died on the way to hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Barura Police Station Aslam Sikder said a case was filed in this
connection.
