A draft of the Broadcast Act-2016 has been posted on website inviting public opinion.
According to the draft, three-month fail as highest punishment and Tk 5 lakh or both have been proposed for violating the rules.
A 43-member committee prepared the draft in line with the recommendations of the National Broadcasting Policy-2014.
Golam Rahman, a former professor of Journalism Department at Dhaka University headed the committee.
The information ministry posted the draft on its website to take public opinion.
