Rahmatganj Muslim Friend Society, the giant killers, thwart Dhaka Abahani, the traditional sky-blue outfits by a 2-2 margin in their fifth match of Group-B on Wednesday in the KFC Independence Cup Football-2016 at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka.
Irish midfielder Rohan Anthony Ricketts and Senegal striker Sarba Camara scored one each for Abahani while Congolese striker Siyo Zunapio and striker Nurul Absar scored for Rahmatganj in the match.
Yet the Abahani boys drew in the match, they still have a chance to secure the semi-finals if they can win or at least make a draw in their last match against group topper Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra on April 23.
Russel boys are on the top with ten points from four matches. Second placers Team BJMC have seven points from all five matches while Abahani are on the third place with six points from four matches.
In their earlier matches, Abahani suffered a 1-1 draw with Soccer Club, Feni and dumped Team BJMC by 5-0 margin before a goalless draw with Arambagh. Rahmatganj, on the other hand, were defeated to Team BJMC by a lone goal in the opener and beat Soccer Club by 3-2 margin. They were defeated in the third match by 2-1 margin to Sk Russel and were held by Arambagh in a goalless margin in the fourth match.
