Training of 43,725 polling officers in Ctg going on

CHATTOGRAM, Jan 27: The Regional Election Commission in Chattogram has taken an all-out preparation for holding smooth, free and fair elections in all constituencies of Chattogram.

The upcoming 13th National Parliament Election and Referendum is scheduled for February 12 in the country.

Talking to the Daily Observer, Muhammad Shakhawat Hussain, Additional Regional Election Officer of Chattogram said that the training of 43,725 polling officials of 16 constituencies of Chattogram is going on. The training began since January 22 which will end on February 7 next.

The Election Commission during the selection of the officers had been carefully scrutinized through internal investigation into the past roles of selected polling and presiding officers to ensure the impartiality of election process.

According to the Ctg regional EC office, around 39,750 officials that included presiding officers, assistant presiding and polling officers will be required for polls duties.

But the EC have primarily selected 43,725 officials with addition of ten percent more compared to actual number of required officials for meeting any emergency.

The polling officers are selected from government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions including recognized educational institutions.
