Five people have died from dengue in the last 24 hours, while 387 new patients have been admitted to hospitals across the country, according to official data.
From 8:00 AM Saturday to 8:00 AM Sunday, the deaths raised this year’s dengue toll to 409, while the total number of hospitalised patients climbed to 1,00,477.
The information was disclosed in a dengue update issued on Sunday (December 14) by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Of the five fatalities reported in the past 24 hours, two were from Barishal division, two from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and one from Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), the statement said.
Among the newly hospitalised patients, 40 were from Barishal division (outside city corporations), 83 from Dhaka division (outside city corporations), 53 from DNCC, 55 from DSCC, 71 from Chattogram division (outside city corporations), 33 from Khulna division (outside city corporations), 26 from Mymensingh division (outside city corporations), 22 from Rajshahi division (outside city corporations) and four from Sylhet division.
In 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue patients were hospitalised nationwide, while 575 people died from the mosquito-borne disease.
