44th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Shippers' Council of Bangladesh (SCB) held in the Fortune Square Convention Hall, Dhanmondi, Dhaka on Saturday, says a press release.
It was presided over by Md Rezaul Karim, Chairman, SCB. In the meeting one minute silence was observed to pay respect to former Chairmen and Members of SCB, business leaders and prominent citizens who passed away during the year.
The AGM reviewed, among other matters, country's trade, transport, shipping and port related problems and infrastructure development in the context of present situation. It reviewed the performances of the Council during the last one year which include measures taken for enhancing its services to the shippers i.e. exporters and importers.
The meeting also discussed its interaction with Asian Shippers' Alliance (ASA) and Global Shippers' Alliance (GSA) along with development of their various activities.
The Meeting confirmed the minutes of the last AGM, passed the Annual Report of the Board of Directors for 2025, approved the Audited Balance Sheet and Statement of Accounts for the year 2024-2025 and appointed Auditors for the year 2025-2026 and fixed their remuneration.
The Chairman, Election Board of the Council Md. Rafiqul Islam formally announced the names of new Office Bearers and Directors for the term 2026 and 2027 as follows :- (1) Chairman, Md Rezaul Karim, Proprietor, SN Jute International (2) Senior Vice Chairman, Syed Md. Bakhtiar, Chairman, Active Logistics (3) Vice Chairman, Ataur Rahman Khan, Proprietor, A.R. Khan and Co. and Directors : (1) Ganesh Chandra Saha, Managing Partner, International Jute Traders (2) Arzu Rahman Bhuiyan, Proprietor, Arzu Jute Traders (3) Mohammed Nurussafa Mazumder, Deputy Managing Director, Electro Mart Ltd. (4) Ziaul Islam, Partner, M.S. Fashions (5) K. M. Arifuzzaman, Proprietor, King Ocean Shipping Lines (6) Sorowar Alam, Director, Circle Marine Ltd. (7) Rafiur Rahman Khan Yusufzai, Managing Director, EB Solutions Limited and (8) Md. Aminul Islam, Managing Director, Pall Mall Industries Ltd.
