Allama Mamunul Haque, parliamentary candidate of the 11-party alliance from the Dhaka-13 constituency, has urged party leaders and activists to remain calm and not fall victim to any provocation during the ongoing election campaign.
Speaking at a roadside rally on Friday after leading a large procession following Jummah prayers, Mamunul Haque said his campaign would be conducted with the highest level of tolerance and discipline, strictly adhering to the rules and regulations set by the Election Commission.
The procession passed through Sher-e-Bangla Nagar and Adabor before concluding in Mohammadpur.
Referring to what he described as growing public support for the Rickshaw symbol, Mamunul Haque warned that certain quarters might attempt to provoke his supporters. "Seeing the massive public support for the Rickshaw symbol, some people may lose their composure and try to provoke us in different ways. We must remember that we are a responsible force and will not fall for such provocations," he said.
Emphasising his commitment to the country, he said a free, fair and peaceful 13th National Parliamentary Election is crucial for Bangladesh's stability, peace and security. "We will exercise patience until the very last moment. However, if anyone mistakes our tolerance for weakness, they are living in a fool's paradise," he added.
Addressing the issue of local representation, Mamunul Haque said the people of Mohammadpur were united beyond party lines and wanted a representative from their own area. "The people of Dhaka-13 do not want a so-called rented candidate," he remarked, adding that if this growing unity unsettles anyone, "we extend our sympathy to them."
