A total of 504 people were arrested across the country during week-long joint operations conducted from January 23 to 29, according to a press release issued on Friday by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During the operations, law enforcement agencies recovered 48 illegal firearms, 75 rounds of assorted ammunition, 95 crude bombs, locally made weapons and various types of narcotics, the release said.
The Bangladesh Army, in coordination with other law enforcement agencies, carried out multiple raids in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, as part of efforts to maintain overall law and order.
Units from various infantry divisions and independent brigades participated in the operations, targeting criminal activities nationwide.
Those arrested included suspected terrorists, drug dealers, members of robber gangs and juvenile gangs, as well as smugglers.
The detainees were reportedly caught red-handed during the operations.
All arrestees were handed over to respective police stations for further interrogation and legal action, ISPR added.
The release also noted that the Bangladesh Army continues to conduct regular patrols and security operations across the country to ensure public safety.
In addition, the army remains actively engaged in controlling labour unrest in industrial areas.
ISPR emphasized that such joint operations will continue in the interest of maintaining peace and stability nationwide and urged members of the public to report any suspicious or unusual activities to the nearest army camp.
