SIRAJGANJ, Jan 30: The district administration and police have completed all preparations to ensure free, fair and peaceful voting in all six constituencies of Sirajganj during the 13th national parliamentary election. Special focus has been placed on security and transport in the char areas.
According to the district police office, voting will be conducted across 923 centres. Of these, 178 have been identified as highly vulnerable, 281 as vulnerable, and 464 as general centres. Security measures are being taken accordingly, with CCTV cameras to be installed in all centres.
Sirajganj Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu said, police officials have already inspected remote centres, identified challenges, and taken necessary steps. Information is being collected on possible threats, past incidents, and communication difficulties. He noted that water shortages have narrowed several Jamuna channels, while many roads in char areas remain unfit for travel. Relevant departments have been informed to repair infrastructure.
District Commissioner and Returning Officer Aminul Islam said 17 executive magistrates have been deployed to enforce the electoral code of conduct and run mobile courts. Seven senior officials, including six additional DCs, will handle complaints. He added that CCTV cameras will be monitored round-the-clock on polling day, with extra forces deployed in char areas.
Boats, motorcycles, horse carts, and fog lights will be arranged to facilitate movement and overcome logistical challenges.
Sirajganj has 26,86,858 registered voters, including 13,35,317 women.
