Inqilab Moncho to expose dual citizen, loan-defaulter candidates

Inqilab Moncho announced on Friday that it will publish the names and photographs of candidates nominated by political parties for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election who hold dual citizenship or are loan defaulters.

The campaign is scheduled to begin on Saturday.

The announcement was made by Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber during a protest rally and demonstration held after Jummah prayers at Dhaka University’s Central Mosque, demanding justice for the killing of Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.

Al Jaber stated that the organization will disclose detailed information about all loan-defaulter candidates, including their names, loan amounts, constituency details and photographs. At the same time, the public will be urged not to vote for such candidates.

He also said that the names and constituency details of candidates holding dual citizenship would be made public.

“We do not want to hand over state responsibilities to individuals who may flee abroad during times of crisis after coming to power,” Al Jaber emphasized.

Expressing support for voting ‘Yes’ in referendum, he described it as a historic opportunity for Bangladeshis to take state power into their own hands.

Through the referendum, he called for transferring authority to ordinary citizens, including rickshaw pullers, van drivers, CNG drivers, garment workers and the general public.

“The people of Bangladesh will no longer compromise on the question of independence. A nation that has learned to shed blood and fight on the battlefield will not turn back,” he added.

Al Jaber highlighted that “Inqilab” means revolution and struggle, stressing that this movement belongs not only to Inqilab Moncho but to all Bangladeshis.

Referring to July as a symbol of Bangladesh’s freedom, he said it represents sovereignty and the defence of borders.

“Until this spirit of July is fully realized in Bangladesh, the movement will continue,” he said.

Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting the further investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Bin Hadi has been extended again, with the court setting February 3 as the new date.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Mohammad Junaid fixed the date after Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report on the scheduled day, marking the fourth extension granted to the investigating officer.

Md Ruknuzzaman, Sub-Inspector of Dhaka Metropolitan Police prosecution division, confirmed the update.

On January 6, investigation officer DB Police Inspector Faisal Ahmed submitted a charge sheet against 17 accused.

On January 15, case plaintiff and Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Jaber filed an objection petition, prompting the court to order further investigation by CID.

According to the case statement, Hadi was heading towards Suhrawardy Udyan on December 12 after finishing election campaigning following Jummah prayers in Motijheel. Around 2:20 PM, when the auto-rickshaw carrying him reached Box Culvert area under Paltan Model Police Station, miscreants on a motorcycle opened fire with intent to kill and fled the scene.

Osman Hadi was initially taken in critical condition to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later shifted to Evercare Hospital after surgery.

On December 15, he was flown to Singapore for advanced treatment, where he passed away on December 18.

Following his death, the case was converted into a murder case.
