A woman was stabbed to death by her husband following a long-standing family dispute in Chandgaon area of Chattogram city on Sunday morning.
The incident occurred at a residence on Road No. 14, Block-B, in the Chandgaon residential area under Chandgaon Police Station.
The deceased was identified as Salma Akter, 38, wife of Jasim Uddin, a resident of Block-B in Chandgaon residential area.
According to sources, the couple had been embroiled in family disputes for a long time. On Sunday morning, an altercation reportedly escalated, during which Jasim Uddin stabbed his wife.
Later, locals rescued Salma Akter and rushed her to Chattogram Medical College (CMC) Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared her dead.
Confirming the incident, Chandgaon Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Nur Hossain Mamun said police conducted an immediate operation after receiving information and arrested the accused husband. The knife used in the killing was also recovered.
He added that legal proceedings are underway and the body has been sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
