Two held over poll violence death in M'singh

MYMENSINGH, Jan 17: Police have arrested two men on charges related to the killing of a supporter of an independent candidate during election-related violence in Mymensingh-1 constituency.

The clash occurred on Friday between supporters of BNP candidate Emran Saleh Prince and independent candidate Salman Omar Rubel. During the altercation, Nazrul Islam, 46, was stabbed to death.
Dhobaura Police Station chief Md Shafiqul Islam said on Saturday morning that a night operation led to the arrests of Adam Ali, 54, and Md Dulal Mia.The Mymensingh-1 seat features a contest between BNP Joint Secretary General Emran Saleh and Salman Omar, who is also a member of the Haluaghat BNP.
