Housing and Public Works and Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan on Friday called on citizens to vote “Yes” in the referendum.

Responding to a question from reporters, Adilur said he was urging people to support the referendum in favour of the July National Charter so that “fascism and fallen tyranny can never return to Bangladesh.”

Earlier in the day, the adviser visited Bandarban Sadar Municipality Water Supply Centre, where he inspected a Tk 350 crore pure water supply and sanitation project being implemented by Department of Public Health Engineering.

Speaking to journalists during the visit, Adilur said the system established by the people of Bangladesh through sacrifice and resistance against injustice would withstand any conspiracy.

He added that the future of the country would be decided by the people through voting “Yes” in February 12 referendum and by electing their preferred representatives.

The adviser also said that large-scale corruption and looting carried out in the name of development in hill districts and across the country had been halted following the 2024 mass uprising.

He noted that the interim government has taken steps to stop such practices while continuing development initiatives.

Earlier, Adilur Rahman Khan placed a wreath at July Memorial in Bandarban, built in memory of the July martyrs.

Later, he addressed a referendum campaign and voter motivation programme organised by Bandarban district administration at the auditorium of Small Ethnic Cultural Institute in the district.
