Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has cleared illegal banners and festoons from several key points at Mohakhali in the capital as part of its ongoing drive to remove unauthorised outdoor advertisements across the city.
The cleanup operation was carried out on Saturday in Ward 20, covering Bir Uttam AK Khandakar Road, Tajuddin Ahmed Road, Mohakhali Railgate, the area in front of Setu Bhaban, Amtala Mor and Public Health gate.
DNCC cleaners involved in the drive said similar operations are being conducted regularly in various parts of the city under instructions from DNCC headquarters.
Earlier on Thursday, DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said the corporation removed a total of 247,000 illegal banners, festoons and posters across the city during November alone.
Meanwhile, DNCC has recently issued a public notice warning that all individuals and institutions must remove illegally installed banners, festoons, posters, nameplates, signboards, LED displays and billboards within seven days.
The notice stated that many such items were installed without proper approval, damaging the city’s aesthetics.
Failure to remove them within the stipulated time will result in eviction drives, fines and additional legal action against those responsible, the DNCC warned.
