ALs 20, JP’s 2, KP’s one to face rebel candidates in Ctg region

CHATTOGRAM, Dec 19: At least 20 ruling Awami League (AL) nominated contestants are facing rebel candidates of their own party, and two Jatiya Party (JP) and Kallyan Partys (KP) lone nominee will face ALs rebel candidates in Chattogram region with 23 constituencies.

In Ctg-1 (Mirsarai),  Mahbubur Rahman Ruhel is contesting with the Awami Leagues Boat. He is the son of sitting MP and former minister engineer Mosharraf Hussain. In this constituency Muhammad Giasuddin, local AL leader and former upazila Chairman is contesting as an independent candidate with Eagle symbol with five other candidates. But real contest will be held between Mahbubur Rahman and ALs rebel candidate Giasuddin.

In Ctg-2 (Fatikchari), Khadizatul Anwar Sony is contesting with ALs Boat. But Nazibul Basher Bhanderi of Tarikat Federation a partner of the ruling alliance is contesting in this seat as an independent candidate as he did not nomination of AL. He is the sitting MP in this constituency. A total of 8 candidates are contesting in this constituency.

A total of 8 candidates are contesting from Ctg-3 (Sandwip). The fight will be held between Mahfuzur Rahman Mita of AL and M Jamaluddin Chowdhury, leader of SACHIP, a rebel AL candidate.

In, Ctg-4 (Sitakunda) S M Al Mamun of AL is contesting with Boat symbol, he will face six rebel  candidates of AL.

In Ctg-5 (Hathazari), Abdus Salam former Chattogram Zilla Parishad Chairman and the President of Chattogram district North Awami League left the seat to Jatiya Party nominee  Barrister Anisul Islam Mahmud a ruling an alliance partner. He is the sitting MP. Anisul Islam Mahmud will face ALs rebel candidate Shahjahan Chowdhury and Trinamool BNP candidate Nazimuddin.

ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury is contesting in Ctg-6 (Raozan) with AL symbol. He faces  five others including Shafiul Azam.

In Ctg-7 (Rangunia) Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud Chowdhury is contesting with Boat Symbol. There are six other candidates in this constituency.

In Ctg-8 (Boalkhali-Chandgaon), AL candidate Noman Al Mahmud withdrew in favour of  Solaiman Alam Sheth of Jatiya Party. But Abdus Salam Treasurer of the city unit and former Chairman of Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) is contesting in this constituency as an independent candidate among ten contestants.

In Ctg-9 (Kotwali-Bakalia) Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel will face seven other candidates.

In Ctg-10 (Double Mooring-Pahartali), Mohiuddin Bacchu is in the race with ALs ticket. But former Chattogram Mayor Manjur Alam and Farid Mahmud of City AL unit are contesting from this seat among nine contestants.

In Ctg-11 (Port-Patenga), sitting MP M A Latif is contesting with AL ticket. But Ziaul Huq Suman a leader of city AL unit and councillor of Chattogram City Corporation is contesting against him as an independent candidate.

Among 8 candidates in Ctg-12 (Patiya), Motaherul Islam Chowdhury is in the race as AL nominee. He is the former upazila Chairman of Patiya. But sitting MP and Whip Shamsul Huq Chowdhury is contesting against him as an independent candidate.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury Javed is contesting for  Ctg-13 (Anwara) against seven other  contestants.

In Ctg-14 (Satkania-Chandanaish) Nazrul Islam Chowdhury of AL will face AL leader and independent candidate M Abdul Jabbaer Chowdhury, a former upazila Chairman.

In Ctg-15 (Satkania-Lohagara), Abu Reza M Nezamuddin Nadavi, the sitting MP is contesting with AL ticket. But M A Motaleb, President of upazila Awami League and former Upazila Chairman is contesting as an independent candidate.

The contest in Ctg-16 (Banshkhali) is expected  between Mustafizur Rahman of Awami League and Mujibur Rahman Treasurer of Chattogram district AL unit. In the race are ten contestants in this seat.

There is no candidate of rulung AL  in Coxs Bazar-1(Chokoria-Pekua). Salahuddin Ahmed has been nominated by ruling Awmi League. Bur his candidacy has been scrapped as he is a bank loan defaulter. For this constituency, retired Major General Syed Muhammad Ibrahim, Chief of Kallyan Party is contesting with sitting MP and ALs rebel candidate Jafar Alam.

In Coxs Bazar-2 (Moheshkahli-Kutubdia) seat Ashekullah Rafiq is contesting with Boat symbol. He will face five other candidates.

In Coxs Bazar-3 (Coxs Bazar-Ramu) sitting MP Saimum Sarwar Kamal of AL faces four contestants.

Coxs Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) Shahin Akhtar Chowdhury, wife of Badiul Alam is contesting as AL nominee and she faces five other contestants.

In three constituencies of three Hill districts, nine  candidates are in the run, including ALs  Khagrachari Kujendra Lal Tripura in Khagrachhai. He faces four other contestants.

In Rangamati, Dipankar Talukder of AL will face  three other candidates.

In Banderban, Bir Bahadur faces Jatiya Party  (Manju) nominee ATM Shahidul Islam.
