Rohingya among 2 held with 7,830 Yaba pills

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two people, including a Rohingya man, along with 7,830 Yaba pills from Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district early Saturday.

Rohingya man Abul Kalam, 37, and Rafiqul Islam, 20, were nabbed from Daulatdia bus stand area at around 2:00 am while intending to supply those Yaba pills in different areas of the country, said Lt commander KM Shaikh Akhtar, company captain of RAB-10 in Faridpur.
Acting on a tip-off, a team from the elite force conducted a drive in the bus stand area and caught the duo red-handed, said Shaikh Akhtar.

He said a total of 7,830 Yaba pills, four mobile phone sets and some money in cash were seized from their possessions.

During the initial questioning, they admitted themselves as drug peddlers. They had been collecting drugs from different bordering areas and supplying those across the country as well as Rajbari's Goalanda.

A case was filed against them with Goalanda Ghat Police Station under the Narcotics Control Act in this regard, the RAB official added.
