Four houses were gutted in a fire at Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj district on Wednesday afternoon.
Local sources said a fire broke out from the house of Farid Uddin at Ganganagar village under Pirojpur union and soon engulfed adjacent houses.
On information, firefighting personnel from Sonargaon Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and doused the fire after around one hour of frantic effort, said the station officer Delwar Hossain.
The estimated loss caused by the fire is around Tk 25 lakh, he added.
