Dhaka-Karachi direct flights resume after a decade

Direct flights between Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka and Pakistan’s Karachi city resume on Thursday after more than ten years.

On Thursday, a Biman Bangladesh Airlines passenger flight departed Dhaka at 8:00 PM local time and will arrive in Karachi at 11:00 PM local time.

The inaugural flight will be operated using a Boeing 737 aircraft and all 162 seats for the flight have been sold out.
The revival of Dhaka-Karachi route offers Bangladeshi passengers long-awaited direct air travel to Pakistan.

Initially, the flights on this route will operate twice a week, on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The route had been suspended in 2012, and the decision to resume flights was made following the formation of the interim government in 2024, highlighting renewed efforts to strengthen air links between the two countries.
