A Dhaka court on Thursday set February 3 for Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to submit a report on its further investigation into the murder of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Awlad Hossain Muhammad Zunaid passed the order after the investigation agency failed to submit the report within the stipulated time.

Earlier, on January 15, 2026, the court directed CID to carry out a further probe following the complainant’s dissatisfaction with the investigation conducted by Detective Branch (DB) of police.

A naraji petition was subsequently filed against the charge-sheet submitted by DB, seeking further investigation.

Inspector Foysal Ahmed of DB submitted the charge-sheet on January 6 against 17 accused, including alleged shooter Foysal Karim Masud and his parents, Humayun Kabir and Hashi Begum.

According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain allegedly opened fire on Hadi while he was travelling in a battery-run auto-rickshaw on December 12 before fleeing the scene.

The case was filed with Paltan Model Police Station on December 14 by Inqilab Moncho Member Secretary Abdullah Al Zaber.

Following Hadi’s death on December 18, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Siddiq Azad on December 20 ordered the inclusion of Section 302 (murder) of the Penal Code in the case, which was initially filed as an attempted murder.
