Shehela Perveen sent to jail

Shehela Perveen, wife of Md Ali Akbar Khan, former chairman of Bangladesh Technical Education Board (BTEB), was sent to jail by a Dhaka court on Tuesday in a case filed over selling fake certificates.

Metropolitan Magistrate  Md Ataullah  passed the order after Inspector Amirul Islam of the Detective Branch (DB) of Police also Investigation Officer of the case produced her before the court after a two-day remand.

Following the defence lawyers plea, the court fixed today (Wednesday) for her bail hearing.

Detective Branch (DB) officials said that BTEB System Analyst ATM Shamsuzzaman, the main accused in the case and the co-accused Sanjida Akhter alias Koli gave confessional statements.

Based on their information, Shehela Parveen was brought to the DB office on Saturday for questioning. Later she was shown arrested in a case filed under the Cyber Security Act, according to DB police source.

Earlier, ATM Shamsuzzaman and his associate Faisal Hossain, Sanjida Akhter, Jatrabari Dhaka Polytechnic School and College director Maksudur Rahman and Hilful Fujul Technical Institute Principal Sarder Golam Mostofa were arrested for their alleged involvement in selling fake certificates.

DB sources said they found some evidence of money transactions between ATM Shamsuzzaman and Shehela Perveen.
