BNP Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan said on Saturday, "BNP wants to change the structure of state power to restore democracy and level playing field for all the political parties in the country."
Speaking to reporters after paying homage at the grave of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar he said, "BNP men are sacrificing their life not to achieve state power but to change the destroyed state structure. Most of the political parties and the people of the country want this."
Moyeen said that the government was continuing in power by holding farcical election. Thats why they have no commitment to the people. The government has forgotten that the Bangalis ousted many autocratic regimes.
Abdul Moin Khan said that the Awami League government is trying to erase the name of Ziaur Rahman from the minds of the new generation. But that effort will not be successful, because Ziaur Rahman introduced Bangladeshi nationalism for all irrespective of their views.
He said that in 1975, the people chose Ziaur Rahman as their leader though sipahi-janata biplob, he never fought for power. The people remember Zia with respect.
Moin Khan said, "There is no democracy and freedom of speech in the country and women are not safe."
Leaders of the new convening committee of Nationalist Ulama Dal laid wreaths and offered special prayers at Ziaur Rahmans grave.
