BD urges developed nations to come forward to build a green world

State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid has said that developed nations should come forward with determination to build a green and sustainable world.

"The promotion of renewable energy will not take a right path without mutual cooperation and coordinated efforts while exchange of technology is essential for its development," Nasrul Hamid remarked on Tuesday at Ministerial-level Multi-Stakeholder Roundtable on "Implementation of COP28 Decisions in the Energy Sector - Opportunities, Constraints, and Next Steps: The Way Head" in the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2024.

He said despite having several odds, Bangladesh plans to generate 40 percent of its electricity from renewable sources by 2041, which is a commitment of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at Paris conference.

"Germany can take initiatives to promote renewable technologies, especially the wind energy", the state minister said.
German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock, German Minister of Economic Affairs and Climate Action Dr. Robert Habeck and other ministers and representatives of various countries were present at the round table meeting.

Nastul Hamid said that the help of the international community is needed to reduce carbon emissions at a substantial level.
The developed nations should discuss the renewable energys potentials with a promise to contribute in climate fund. Nasrul Hamid sought the cooperation of the developed countries to build efficient grid system.

"The production and use of climate neutral products requires financial support and mobilization of financial resources to manage renewable energy", he said.

He told the meeting that the use of renewable energy will not increas eithout the International support for renewable energy and climate resilience.
