Man hacked to death in Bagerhat

BAGERHAT, Feb 20: A man was hacked to death allegedly by his cousin in a clash over betel nut in the districts Mollahat Upazila on Tuesday morning.

At that time, at least three others were injured in the incident.

The murder took place around 6 am at Joydihi Danriaghata Village of the upazila.

The victim was Jamil Sardar, 50, a resident of that area.

Police said the victim Jamil Sardar had a dispute with his cousin Israel. In the morning, when Jamil Sardar inquired about his betel nut, his cousin Israel Sardar and Israels son Raiz Sardar were locked into quarrel with Jamil Sardar. At one stage, they hacked Jamil Sardar with sharp weapons.

Later, he was rescued but died on the way to hospital.

At that time, two persons of the same area were injured. They have been admitted to Mollahat Upazila Health Complex.
