A mobile court on Sunday fined Tk 5 lakh to Polar Ice Cream company in the capital on the charge of its irregularities.
The mobile court, led by Bangladesh Food Safety Authority executive magistrate Ishrat Siddiqa, conducted a raid at Polar Ice Cream (Dhaka Ice Cream Industries Limited) in Tejgaon area and imposed the fine.
Israt Siddiqa said the company was stocking unlabeled and expired remixes in its freezer. In addition, the environment of the factory was unhygienic.
"We fined them minimum of Tk 5 lakh according to law and gave them time. We will fine them in broad way if that kind of irregularities are caught further. Then we will provide them no other chances," she said.
The raid will be continued in public interest, she added.
Bangladesh Food Safety Authority inspector Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, its other support stuffs and a team from Ansar Battalion were present during the raid.
