Younger son 'involved in murder of father' remanded

A court in Chattogram has placed younger son on a three-day remand for questioning into the gruesome murder of father Hasan Ali at EPZ area in the port city.

Shafiqur Rahman Jahangir, who was arrested in connection with Hasan Ali murder case was placed on the remand by Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Jewel Deb on Saturday.
Earlier, Jahangir was arrested from Hazaribagh area in the capital at about 1:30am on Saturday by Chattogram Metro of Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI).

On Saturday morning, officials of the PBI, Chattogram Metro, conducted searches at Patenga sea beach to recover the victim's severed head.

Earlier on October 2, searches were carried out with Jahangir's wife Anarkoli.

Investigation officer of the murder case and PBI, Chattogram Metro inspector Md Ilyas Khan said they pleaded to the court to place Shafiqur Rahman Jahangir on a seven-day remand for questioning into Hasan Ali murder. However, after hearing, the court placed him on a three-day remand.

In the morning of September 23 last, the rest of the body of Hasan Ali was recovered from a sack at Akmal Ali Road area under EPZ Police Station in the port city. Later, the PBI identified the body of Hasan Ali taking the impression of his fingers.

PBI arrested Hasan Ali's wife Senoara Begum, sons Mostafizur Rahman and Shafiqur Rahman Jahangir, and Jahangir's wife Anarkoli for their alleged involvement in the brutal murder.

At night of September 21 last, Patenga police recovered eight severed body parts of a dead body from a luggage. Being the plaintiff, police then filed a murder case. The PBI has already started investigation into the gruesome murder.

Under primary questioning, the arrested persons told the PBI that Hasan Ali had remained seperated from his family for long 27 years. He retured to his wife and sons recently. However, Hasan Ali's elder son Mostafizur Rahman secured national identity card (NID) mentioning his father as dead. Conflict arose among the father and sons after Hasan Ali arrived home. In sequel to it, at night of September 19 last, wife and two sons together allegedly murdered Hasan Ali brutally at their house No. 7 Akmal Ali Road under EPZ Police Station. Then the body was cut into eight pieces and kept those into a luggage and sack. Later, those were dumped into Patengan sea beach and Akmal Ali Road area.
