Police detained a man and his son alongwith a firearm and drugs in Chaugachha upazila of Jashore district on Monday night.
Detained persons are Abdul Mannan, 60, a resident of Kabilpur village in the upazila, and his son Jakir Hossain, 30.
Chaugachha Police Station officer in-charge (OC) Rifat Rajib Khan said police in a drive nabbed the duo from beside Muktarpur Government Primary School.
The law enforcers also recovered a pistol and two bullets from Abdul Mannan's possession while 50 bottles of contraband phensedyl cough syrup from his son, OC Rifat said.
Two separate cases were filed against them under the Arms and Narcotics Control Acts, he added.
