Bangladesh summoned Pakistan High Commissioner in Dhaka and strongly protested the statement issued by the foreign ministry on Nizami's death penalty.

Bangladesh foreign ministry on Monday summoned Pakistan High Commissioner Shuja Alam at the foreign ministry, and lodged the protest.

According to the protest note, the statement issued by the Pakistan foreign ministry on the death penalty of Motiur Rahman Nizami is completely unacceptable. The government of Bangladesh has handed over a protest letter after summoning Pakistan High Commissioner Shuja Alam.

The Pakistan foreign ministry in a statement on Friday expressed concern after the Appellate Division of Bangladesh rejected the review plea of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami leader Matiur Rahman Nizami who was sentenced to death for war crimes in 1971.
