Chittagong Abahani, previously a feeble team who were at a risk of relegation from the League last year, has came out with its new strength and introduced their new foreign coach Jozef Pavlik to the media on Tuesday at a press meet at the BFF House.
The Chittagong-based team began to change its look after recruiting many national booters in the team and they appeared champions of the first Sheikh Kamal International Club Cup Football Tournament last year.
However, Shafiqul Islam Manik was the coach of the team during the Club Cup. But, he is the head coach of Sheikh Jamal DC now. The post of the coach of Ctg Abahani was vacant then.
After arriving in Dhaka, the new Slovakian Football Head Coach Jozef Pavlik had already took two training session and is trying to understand the boys.
He said that he got some booters in the team and would like to understand their best performance in different positions before selecting the formation of the team.
"I am new to the country and will need to understand its culture and football. But I've some knowledge about Asian football," said Jozef.
President of Ctg Abahani MA Latif MP introduced the new coach and hoped that the team will impress the soccer fans displaying a good brand of football.
The UEFA EURO A license holder coach Jozef Pavlik started his career as a footballer with Slovak 2nd Division League Club Slovan Levice in 1993.
Later, he also played for Greek 2nd League Clubs Panserraikos Serres and Etnikos Asteras, Slovak Premier League Clubs Spartak Trnava, Jas Bardejov and Inter Bratislava during 1995 to 2003.
He started his coaching career as an age group ((U-13, U-14, U-15) head coach of FC Nitra of Slovakia in 2005. He also discharged his duties as assistant coach of Slovak Premier League Clubs FC Nitra, Iraklis Thessaloniki,, Vion Zlate Moravce and Libyan Premier League Club Al Ahly Benghazi during 2012-2015.
Secretary General of Chittagong Abahani Ltd Samsul Haque Chowdhury, BFF vice president Badal Roy, general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag, Chairman of Ctg Abahani Football Committee Tarafdar Ruhul Amin were present in the press meet.
