MADARIPUR, Mar 30: A man allegedly killed his elder brother at Chapatoli village under Sadar upazila here on Tuesday morning.  
The deceased was identified as Emran Matubbor, 18, son of Idris Matubbor of the village.
Police and locals said, the deceased Emran has been addicted to drug for long. For this, he used to demand money from family members, but they denied paying.
On Monday night, an altercation happened between Emran and his younger brother Enamul Matubbor over the issue. At one stage, Enamul chopped Emran with a sharp weapon.
Emran was rushed to Faridpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition where he died on Tuesday morning.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Madaripur Sadar Police Station Md Ziaul Morshed said, on information, police visited the spot and seized a ramda (big chopper) from the spot.
Police also detained Maksuda Begum, mother of the deceased, for interrogation.  
A case was under process till filing the report.
