BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Friday called on voters to cast a 'Yes' vote in the upcoming referendum, which will be held alongside the February 12 general election.
Speaking as the chief guest at a BNP election rally at Eidgah Ground in Rangpur, he emphasised that the referendum is a historic opportunity for the people to assert their rights and play an active role in shaping the country's governance.
Tarique Rahman highlighted that Bangladesh must be freed from the grip of corruption and said that the BNP is the only party capable of ensuring law and order across the nation.
"Only a BNP-led government can firmly control the country's law and order situation and rein in corruption at all levels," he said, urging voters to reject parties that have failed to address these challenges in the past.
During the rally, the BNP Chairman stressed the importance of voter participation in both the referendum and the general election, urging citizens to remain vigilant and united.
He warned that failure to vote decisively could allow corruption and mismanagement to continue, and called on party leaders and activists to ensure a peaceful and credible election process.
Tarique Rahman also highlighted the referendum as a chance to strengthen democratic institutions, arguing that a 'Yes' vote would empower citizens to hold the state accountable and curb the influence of dynastic politics.
He said that the BNP's vision is to establish governance rooted in transparency, justice, and merit, where citizens from all walks of life can thrive.
The rally drew a large gathering of BNP leaders, candidates, activists, and supporters from Rangpur and surrounding areas.
Local BNP candidates joined the event to motivate voters, emphasising the party's commitment to development, good governance, and the protection of citizens' rights.
Tarique urged the party workers to campaign responsibly, remain disciplined, and ensure that the voices of the people are heard during the polls.
He also spoke about the broader political context, criticizing rival parties for failing to control corruption and maintain public safety.
Tarique Rahman vowed that if elected, the BNP would strengthen law enforcement, ensure justice for all citizens, and build a corruption-free administration.
The rally concluded with calls for continued campaigning and active participation in the referendum and elections.
Tarique Rahman urged all supporters to remain united, vigilant, and dedicated to the BNP's mission of creating a stable, accountable, and corruption-free Bangladesh.
