Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on Friday dismissed recent comments made by Islami Andolan Bangladesh, describing them as incorrect and misleading.
In a statement, Jamaat Assistant Secretary General and Head of Central Publicity and Media Department Ehsanul Mahbub Zubayer said remarks made by Islami Andolan Bangladesh’s Joint Secretary General and spokesperson Gazi Ataur Rahman at a press conference after Jummah prayers were inaccurate.
He said comments attributed to a leader of a Christian community organisation were not factually correct.
Zubayer added that Jamaat clarified the issue immediately through a press briefing at the time.
Responding to Ataur’s claim that “Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has deviated from Allah’s law and Islamic ideology,” Zubayer said the allegation was completely false and aimed at creating confusion among the public.
He stressed that Jamaat-e-Islami remains an Islamic organisation guided by the ideals of Allah and His Messenger (peace be upon him).
Addressing another allegation, Zubayer said Jamaat always maintains political decorum and engages with all political parties based on mutual respect and courtesy, adding that the party does not engage in activities that violate political norms.
He concluded by urging Gazi Ataur Rahman to refrain from making statements that could mislead or confuse the public.
