Inqilab Moncho holds protest demanding justice for Shaheed Hadi

Inqilab Moncho staged a protest rally at Dhaka University (DU), demanding justice for its slain spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman bin Hadi on Friday. A large number of supporters and activists joined the demonstration.

After Jumma prayers, protesters brought out a procession from the central mosque premises of Dhaka University. During the rally, they chanted various slogans calling for justice and accountability.

The protest followed a recent court order seeking further investigation into Hadi’s murder. On Thursday, a Dhaka court directed the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to conduct an additional probe into the case after the complainant expressed dissatisfaction with the initial investigation and filed a naraji petition challenging the charge sheet.

Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam issued the order and instructed the CID to submit a fresh investigation report by January 20, according to Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Prosecution) Miah Mohammad Ashis Bin Hasan.

Sharif Osman bin Hadi, who was also a prospective candidate for the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the head on December 12 while travelling in a rickshaw on Culvert Road in Puratan Paltan. He was later flown to Singapore for advanced medical treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries on December 18.
