Sexual harassment happening in BD

Sexual harassment is happening in public, private universities, colleges, madrassas, and schools in Bangladesh.

However, in these incidents, most of the accused escaped under political umbrellas. 90 percent of victims do not report due to fear of family pressure, social stigma, shame and institutional complications.

What kind of vice chancellors are being appointed in the university now? Some are in money scams, some are giving jobs by bringing their relatives. If they are the vice-chancellor of the university, how will it improve?

According to the order of the High Court, anti-sexual harassment cells have been directed in every university. But there is no monitoring whether these cells are working properly or not.

Recently, incidents of harassment and sexual harassment of women by teachers and students have been happening in various universities including Dhaka University.

The accused got away under the political umbrella. However, no one can avoid the responsibility of university, teachers organization, university grant commission.

Government should play a more active role in the prosecution of sexual harassment of women.
